Sales, sales, sales. My inbox is being bombarded this morning, so I am going to save the post I had prepared for today for next week and simply do a quick and dirty rundown of where to go for the best maternitywear and childrenswear discounts this Memorial Day Weekend. I’ll add on to the list as the weekend progresses.

Gucci Kelis Sandal

1. Gucci. First of all, Gucci launched its pre-sale online today and you can shop it here. The Gucci sale has no particular relevance to your being pregnant, but pregnancy should by no means stop you from buying these turquoise and gold “Kelis” sandals, which are 50% off.

2. Bellydance Maternity. Bellydance is offering 20% off sitewide this weekend with promo code “P20.” No designer exclusions, and sale items are included.

3. Nordstrom. The department store is staging its Half-Yearly sale and a portion of the online maternity boutique is up to 50% off. Sizes are very limited, but take a look, you could luck out. Maternal America’s  cotton ruffle pocket dress is included, reduced from USD $116 to $76.90.

Marc Jacobs Onesie

4. West Village Kids. I love this carefully curated children’s boutique, right in the heart of New York City’s West Village. I also love their online selection, which will be 25% off this Sunday and Monday only. Scotch & Soda Shrunk, Ella Moss, Splendid Littles, Marc Jacobs, Diesel–all of your favorite kids’ brands discounted for two days.

Birkenstocks

PEPE Calfskin Sandals

5. Elias & Grace. The luxury London children’s boutique is staging a “Summer Shopping Weekend,” with 20% off its entire online boutique selection from tomorrow (Saturday) through Tuesday. Use code “SS2011″ at checkout. Does your baby boy need “mandals” this summer? You can add these PEPE calfskin leather sandals to his summer footwear rotation…or opt for the more practical baby Birkenstocks.

Keep checking in this weekend, I’ll be adding more sales as they come through. And don’t forget PF’s excluive designer nursingwear discounts at Milkstars and Heather Lehmann–both promo codes are good through May 31st.

Who among you doesn’t have the tinest bit of Royal Wedding fever this month? It’s hard not to succumb to at least a little bit of the hype, especially if you are as ancient as I am and remember waking up at dawn to watch Charles and Diana’s wedding back in 1981.

But how does an Anglophile take part if she hasn’t been invited for tea and crumpets at one of the fanta-bulous early morning Royal Viewing parties I keep reading about? Through her children, of course.  Check out Alex and Alexa’s Kate & Wills Mini Look-A-Like Competition. The luxury UK-based children’s clothing site announced today that it is seeking a younger version of the Royal Couple.  I definitely have at least one candidate in my house for the part of Wills–maybe even two or three, depending on how well nap time goes that day. And I’ve already put the word out that I am desperately seeking a Kate.

If you happen to think your own offspring resembles a pre-balding Prince William and there also happens to be a Kate Middleton-esque young lady living down the block, invite her over for a dress-up playdate, snap a photo, and enter to win the entire children’s wardrobe pictured in this promotional photo. The dress and shoes pictured on the little girl are Dior and the shoes on the little boy are handmade Galluccis, ladies, so this is no run-of-the-mill online giveaway.  All entries must be received by May 6th and all entrants will receive a £ 5 voucher for purchases at Alex and Alexa. If nothing else, that voucher will ensure that the aspiring Princess Kate in your house can still wear Dior this spring.

A brief diversion from maternity fashion today, because I feel compelled to inform you all that Stella McCartney’s new kids’ Spring 2011 collection is just so unbelievably cute and now mostly available online. Head over to her site and view the new collection here. The boys’ collection is perfectly adorable–I’ll clearly be buying the plaid parka and the bright, citrus-colored skinny jeans, despite my sons’ own serious objections to outfitting themselves in anything but baseball jerseys paired with oversized basketball shorts.

But the girls’ collection is simply amazing. I love the prints, I love the rompers, I love the separates, I love the wine-colored trench, I love it all. You can even buy a pint-sized version of Stella’s must-have denim dress and denim skirt from her 2010 spring ready-to-wear collection, both of which I scoured most of Europe for in my own size last summer. Some of the collection’s styles are still not yet in stock but I would advise you to order what you can now.  Stella’s kids’ collection is no longer being done for the Gap, so you no longer have to fight the masses to get a piece of it, but savvy shoppers are out there buying it out anyway. This printed “Polly” raincoat at right is one of the hottest items in the collection, but is still available here. The similarly printed culotte suit I had planned to buy for my goddaughter sold out completely over the weekend.

There are also a few of those requisite, trademark Stella kids’ pieces that will make you ask, “Whose kids actually wear this?,” like this boys’ cropped military jacket or the embroidered vest. I always wonder if any little boys besides Stella’s own little boy can be made to wear one of these get-ups.
