Blanqi Maternity Launches Today

March 8th, 2010 · 1 Comment · New Maternity Lines

underbustbodystlerI am always intrigued when a new maternity line debuts, as those occasions are too few and far between.  But I am especially intrigued when a new maternity line attempts to target the true fashion dilemma faced by pregnant women–how to make clothing look good and fit well when adorning the curiously shaped pregnant physique.  I am all for having more maternity fashion options to choose from, but I do truly admire those designers who set out to try to make pregnant women look better from the inside out.

Two such women, Sabina and Valerie, have officially debuted Blanqi Maternity today in Nordstrom’s online maternity boutique. Blanqi Maternity’s trademark product is its “UnderBust Body Styler”, a seamless microfiber tank top that is made from 90% nylon and 10% spandex and is specifically designed to wear underneath your clothing with the bra of your choice. The Bodystylers are constructed to provide support to the belly as you grow with wide shoulder straps and an X-shaped back panel, but are also designed to smooth out whatever it is you might have going on underneath your maternity clothing. With the Bodystyler, the intent is for you to be able to wear your favorite maternity bra and not have to worry about layering another slip or camisole over it to try and camouflage those unsightly bumps and bulges.  I really like this idea–during the later stages of pregnancies, there were times when I found myself wearing a bra, a camisole, a maternity slip and a pair of maternity tights all in an effort to try and smooth my pregnant silhouette.  The BodyStyler looks like it could have done all of that–and made going to the ladies’ room a bit easier.

The Bodystyler comes in both a regular length and longer length and both lengths are available here in both nude and black for USD $68. I am awaiting a sample,so I’ll post more once I’ve had a look at it myself.  But my best wishes to Sabina and Valerie as they move forward with Blanqi Maternity.
