Today is one of my favorite maternity fashion days of the year because Isabella Oliver has released its Spring Collection for purchase. All you have to do is open Isabella Oliver’s “New Arrivals” page here and it becomes clear that the theme of the new collection is color and lots of it. Greens, reds, pinks, blues…it is very refreshing to see a maternity collection in which black does not dominate. There are a few noteworthy new pieces, but I am most excited about some of my favorite, classic Isabella Oliver pieces now available in vibrant new colors. For instance, the always reliable Ruffle Wrap Dress and the very flattering 3/4-Sleeve Bracelet Portrait Top are now available in Scarlet. I wore both of these pieces through all of my pregnancies and I would unreservedly put them in the “must-have” category (be warned–don’t buy any of the bracelet portrait tops unless you are quite comfortable with flaunting your pregnancy cleavage).

There are two new maxi dresses–the Grecian Maxi, available in blue, and the Glamour Maxi, available in emerald green. There is also a maternity jumpsuit, available in ocean blue. I still harbor serious skepticism about the concept of a maternity jumpsuit. I blogged not long ago about it here after noticing Olian’s Spring 2010 version.
I continue to await news that the maternity jumpsuit is a good idea from one of you, including proof that using the ladies’ room at least once an hour when you are wearing a jumpsuit is not, to but it bluntly, a very serious pain in the ass.
As always, perusing one of IO’s new maternity collections is a special treat. And it is sadly offered only twice a year, so enjoy yourself today. You don’t need me to tell you how crucial IO’s pieces are to a pregnant woman’s wardrobe. Happy shopping…
