I admit to being slightly perplexed by the designer sweatshirt phase that fashion is undergoing right now. Elle Fanning just popped up on the cover of Australian Miss Vogue in this $1375 Givenchy Bambi-themed sweatshirt. Really? My mom hated sweatshirts and sweatpants and felt there were really very few excuses for a lady having to wear any type of “sweat-based” clothing. I had a problem with that rule during the Flashdance/Jennifer Beals era, but now, I tend to agree. Even if you belt it, like Elle did, it’s still, well, a sweatshirt.
One very, very good excuse for wearing a sweatshirt is, however, pregnancy. Tel Aviv-based maternity designer Imanimo is out with a new Flashdance-esque sweatshirt for Fall 2013 and it is actually quite cute. And Imanimo’s Bettina Sweatshirt only costs $98. I much prefer it to Elle’s Bambi sweatshirt and it is obviously a bargain in comparison. You can buy the Bettina Sweatshirt in both grey and red with free international shipping and still come in under $200. The sweatshirt is cut from soft French terry, and will keep you comfortable, cozy and clearly very much on-trend into the winter.
