“Very” Decadent Monday: Alberta Ferretti As Maternity Designer?

February 4, 2013

Peaches Geldof, a young London socialite, is the same young mother who famously tipped over her baby stroller while talking on a mobile phone in September.

I try not to judge how other mothers handle their children. If the paparazzi were following me around, I am sure I would have been photographed doing something equally offensive many times over.

Of course, I don’t feel the same about what those same mothers are wearing. Peaches is pregnant for a second time and while she typically parades around London in less-than-noteworthy clothing, Peaches looked especially gorgeous over the weekend in this ivory beaded Alberta Ferretti dress. The ivory and silver embellished dress is part of Alberta Ferretti’s Spring/Summer 2013 Collection and obviously is not intended for maternity wear. But Peaches looks just ethereal, even with her baby bump, I couldn’t resist.

Just a few weeks ago, after the Golden Globes the very obviously pregnant Malin Akerman also donned blue Alberta Ferretti Spring/Summer 2013 and looked absolutely radiant. And that same weekend, the very pregnant Busy Phillips also chose black sequined Alberta Ferretti.

These dresses are not yet available to the non-celebrity/socialite and the average pregnant woman must wait until they are sold in Alberta Ferretti’s online boutique. When they are, they will cost more than the crib, stroller, car seat, and breast pump combined. But they are gorgeous. And it is nice to know these high-fashion dresses look so incredibly good on the pregnant form.

I am so with you. If by chance you don’t like the maternity wear on the market, please wear nonmaternity clothes that will flatter your body and cover and hide those unsightly parts no one wants to see. Find ways to accentuate your bump with out of the
