Splendid Maternity Is All About Color This Fall

During my trip to A Pea In The Pod to view the Jessica Simpson Maternity collection, I am going to admit that I “looked around a little bit.” It truly pains me that this chain store is so dominant in the maternitywear market. And my local A Pea in The Pod is always a complete mess, with way too much merchandise crammed onto racks without any thought whatsoever into what kind of presentation might actually facilitate shopping. Were I a first time maternity shopper, I would do a quick U-turn in that store. One rack I thumbed through had a puffy ski jacket hanging next to a long-sleeved T-shirt hanging next to a black lace cocktail dress. The pieces were all black, perhaps that rack was supposed to be organized by color? Who knows, it was chaos in there.

I did, however, really love the new fall Splendid Maternity Collection For A Pea In The Pod. The tops are all very soft, as Splendid always is, but the Fall 2012 offerings include an alluring array of colors. Pregnant Claire Danes stepped out in the Splendid Elbow Sleeve V-neck Dolman Sleeve Maternity T Shirt in orange and blue last week. The Splendid Long Sleeve Cowl Neck Maternity Top is available in three colors, including this fuschia and grey mix. And the Splendid Convertible Sleeve Patch Pocket Maternity Shirt comes in teal, as well as fuschia and white. 

It also seems as if Splendid has suddenly stopped carrying maternity in its online boutique–which makes A Pea In The Pod the only outlet through which you can purchase the line’s small, but rightly coveted maternity collection. PITP has desperate maternity shoppers all trapped, hence the store’s insurmountable dominance in the market. Sigh.
